What's in a blog post anyways?

2026‑03‑07

Hello! It feels so nice to finally have this blog up and running! I've been crunching behind the scenes on a few different games and projects and filling my plate as per usual so it's nice to sit down and properly dedicate to something solid like this, especially when I had planned to get this up and running a million years ago it feels like.
It's been so soothing to slowly work on this as a pet project and dedicate time slowly to it as I've been re-integrating on my old hobbies as well and I think that it's been a re-connection of the soul in a way for me. A gentle kind of re-latching of my wires to the main frame.

As of late, it's honestly just been that. Lots of chores and trying to get a grasp on my brain yet again since now I actually can feel it post medication. The dysphagia is awful but I don't think I would give it up if it meant going back to raw dogging it truly. I feel good for the first time in literal decades and things don't feel so looming and awful. I don't feel like a pressure cooker and it's nice! I've picked back up on OLD old art hobbies I used to love from high school like linocut stamps and experimental art and I'm so thankful my artistic spark is back!!!
The kids are also very happy. I recently had to get Big Squid her newest medication as well and so I picked them up some of the Crayola magic mess free markers and now I have some lovely Bluey and Spider-man and friends art for the fridge, heehee. Big squid is also getting glasses! Turns out her being cross eyed was entirely because of her being near sighted and the one eye overcompensating so we're gonna get her into see the optomitrist in a few days and get girly some cute new glasses! I think shes's going to be very very excited since she already has an absolute fixation on anybody and everybody's glasses.

Other than that, it's been really really slow! I got myself Rebelle 8 and have been using it almost every week to paint and doodle something new with my mouse and I genuinely enjoy it so much it's unreal. I was so enthused by it, I even got a wild hair up my ass and painted my FIL a memorial painting of his dog that just recently passed (who was 15-16 years old mind you!!!! old lady!!!) and our kids since it meant a LOT to me that my kiddos got to meet one of my husbands later in life childhood dogs.
He cried, I cried, it was a whole thing but it truly reminded me that I am loved even if I have never interacted with that kind of familial love before! It's nice! I'm re-learning how love works and I'm figuring out I love it, haha.
We got to score some wonderful eggs from the chickens which are absolutely gorgeous and sooo tasty! I've already baked banana bread and honestly tomorrow I might do some more baking while I make more fresh lemonade and OJ for the squids.

WHICH REMINDS ME ACTUALLY! Hubby asked for a juicer for christmas and we got one, yay, and we finally got around to using it and oh my god I don't know how we lived before this. I made fresh apple juice and I could have cried it was so lovely. There's something so touching about making something genuinely entirely from scratch and I get fresh juice to give Little Squid! Big Squid is deep in ARFID so we stick to what we know with her but maybe some day we'll find a hand pressed something she likes.

In hubby news, speaking of, he just had to go through a series of painful root canals which was suckish! It's fantastic he's not in pain but the path to get there was sadly expensive and painful in the beginning and we had to also overcome some serious abscessing. It begs the question of maybe we both just need to get new adamantium teeth, honestly, but that would only solve the later and not the now I fear. Ah well. These things happen. All we can do is work towards the better brighter future ahead! Thankfully they're letting him break things down into payments so we can figure it out but it's gonna be tight so I'm gonna have to start hunkering down again and doing a lot more at home stuff for food and fun for the kids. I should teach myself how to make a decent pancake soon, honestly. Stop having to buy the bulk bags of eggo pancakes for Big Squid cause pancakes are my one downfall in the kitchen! I just can't make a good looking pancake! It's more of a funny problem than anything but when the pancake boxes premade are 5 dollars a box for 12 pancakes, you start to see the big financial red lines drop hard. Feeding kids, especially kids with restrictive diets, is hard work! I truly did not know this was an option that could happen but it does make sense considering how I am with food texture sometimes.

Anyways, I think that's it for me tonight! Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
